How the adoption process works

Our goal is to match our furry friends with your family and lifestyle. When you visit our facility, our knowledgeable staff is ready to assist you in your big decision. We’ll work with you to determine which animal best fits your situation. (Please note that the adoption process must start atleast one hour prior to the shelter closing.)

Step 1

Complete an application. Please note the following requirements will need to be met before the adoption can be considered complete:

  • Adopters must be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license displaying their current address.
  • We’ll need proof of home ownership or a copy of your lease agreement and landlord contact information.
  • We’ll need to see proof of current rabies vaccinations for all your household pets.

Step 2

Consult with an adoption counselor.

Step 3

Receive approval of the application.

Step 4

If a match is found, arrange for a meeting with all family members if not present at the first consultation. If there are canines in your household, also have them come in and be introduced to the potential new member of your family.

Step 5

If everything has worked out in the previous steps – take your new family member home!!
