My family moved to Meredith, NH in 1953 from Harwichport, MA. Here in town my dad operated a funeral home on Highland Street until 1965. In 1976 my husband, Duncan, who was a summer kid, and I purchased a year round home on Pollard Shores. In 2000 we were fortunate to build our present home on the shores of Lake Waukewan on property his parents purchased in 1949. I earned an undergraduate degree from University of New Hampshire, Master’s in School Administration from Plymouth State University, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from Boston University, and accomplished Doctorate work (all but dissertation) in School Administration at Vanderbilt University. Professionally, I was a teacher from 1968-1979, and I served as Principal from 1979-2014. I stay actively involved in the community. • United Way, Concord, NH, Board President (1992-1995) • New Hampshire Humane Society (began as a volunteer in 2005) where I foster kittens and moms, have served as a committee member as well as chaired events for the shelter from 2008-2015; and was a member of the shelter’s educational outreach team • First Congregational Church, Meredith – member and active on all church committees over the years since the mid-eighties. Currently, Treasurer, member of the Diaconate and Sunday School leader. • Supervisor of the Checklist for Meredith (1984-2007) (2014- present) • Friends of the Meredith Library 2014 to present (chair 2018-present) • Squam Lakes Science Center volunteer since 2014 (garden, greeter, events)
